I can't add or change events

What stops you from changing a calendar, and how to get editing back.

Symptom​

There's no New event button, events can't be dragged, or opening an event shows no Edit button. A label next to the period may say why.

View only​

Cause: You can see the calendar but not edit it. You need permission to edit the Confluence page, the Edit work items permission for a Jira work item, or editor access to a Jira dashboard. For a space calendar, its restrictions may leave you out.

Solution: Ask the page owner, your Jira admin, the dashboard owner or the space calendar's owner for edit access. See Permissions.

Locked​

Cause: Someone locked the calendar.

Solution: If you can edit the page, work item or dashboard, select ••• > Unlock calendar. See Lock a calendar.

Saving…​

Cause: Your last change is being saved. Editing pauses until it's done, usually for a second or two.

Solution: Wait for the label to go away.

Can't load​

Cause: The calendar couldn't be read, so editing is paused to avoid overwriting it. The calendar shows Couldn't load this calendar.

Solution: Select Retry. If it keeps failing, reload the page and check your connection.

The app isn't licensed​

Cause: The license or trial has ended. Calendars show The app is currently unlicensed. Some features may be limited or unavailable.

Solution: Ask your site admin to renew the license. See Licensing.
