Permissions
Event Planner adds no permissions or roles of its own. Confluence and Jira permissions decide who sees and changes each calendar, and restricted pages, space calendars and work items stay restricted.
Confluenceβ

| Install the app, change the admin page | Site admin or Confluence admin | - |
| See a page calendar | View the page | Anonymous visitors too, on public pages |
| Insert the Event Planner macro | Edit the page | - |
| Add, change and delete events, change settings, lock | Edit the page | Works on the published page |
| See a space calendar | Access to the space, and not excluded by the calendar's restrictions | - |
| Create a space calendar | Add content in the space | The admin page can hide Create calendar |
| Limit who sees or edits a space calendar | The space's Restrictions permission | Space admins have it |

| Move a space calendar to the trash | Delete content in the space | - |
| See an embedded space calendar | View the page, and see the calendar | Others get You can't see this calendar |
| Open events, switch views, export | See the calendar | No license needed |
Jiraβ
| Action | Permission needed | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Install the app, open the admin page | Site admin or Jira admin | - |
| See a work item calendar | Permission to see the work item (Browse projects) | - |
| Add the panel, change events, settings and the lock | Edit work items | - |
| See a dashboard calendar | The dashboard is shared with you | Not for people who aren't signed in |
| Add the gadget, change events, settings and the lock | Own the dashboard, or be shared on it as an editor | - |
| Open events, switch views, export | See the calendar | No license needed |
Jira checks these permissions on the server for every request, not only in the app's screens.
Things to knowβ
- Events have no owner. Everyone who can edit a calendar can change or delete any event on it, whoever added it.
- The lock isn't a permission. Everyone who can edit a calendar can unlock it. See Lock a calendar.
- Adding someone to an event gives them no access. People on an event see it only if they can already see the calendar.
Licenseβ
Every change also needs an active license for the app. Viewing and export work without one. See Licensing.
