A shared page doesn't show in a frame

Symptom

You pasted a link's embed code into another website, but the frame stays empty or the browser says the page refused to connect.

Find the cause

  1. Open the link's settings in the share window and look at the link bar.
    • If there's no Embeddable chip, go to the first cause below.
    • If the Access tab says Your admin has turned embedding off for this site., go to the second cause below.
    • If the link bar shows Expired on and a date, go to the third cause below.
    • If the link is embeddable and active, go to the fourth cause below.

Cause: Every link starts with embedding off, and a change takes effect only once it's saved.

Solution:

  1. On the Access tab, turn on Allow other sites to embed this page.
  2. Select Save changes, then reload the other site's page.

Your Jira admin turned embedding off

Cause: The site-wide Allow embedding setting is off, so no link can be framed, whatever its own setting.

Solution: Ask a Jira admin to turn on Allow embedding under Embedding on the Sharing Policy tab.

Cause: The This link has expired and This link isn't active pages can't be shown in a frame.

Solution: Set a new expiry, or create a new link and paste its embed code. See Set when a link expires.

The other site doesn't allow frames

Cause: Some sites and editors remove <iframe> elements from pages, or block frames from other domains.

Solution: Check the other site's settings for embedded content, or ask its administrator to allow frames from *.hello.atlassian-dev.net, where shared pages are served. As a workaround, link to the page instead of embedding it.

Still not working?

Contact support and include the address of the page that embeds the link and the message the browser shows.
