Comments are off for the link or the siteβ
Cause: Comment is off by default for every link. When your Jira admin turned viewer comments off for the site, the switch is disabled and says so.
Solution:
- Turn on Comment, then select Save changes.
- If the switch is disabled, ask a Jira admin to turn on Allow viewer comments under Viewer Comments on the Sharing Policy tab.
The viewer is looking in the wrong placeβ
Cause: On a board or filter link, the comment box isn't on the board or the table. It's in the side panel of each work item.
Solution: Ask the viewer to select a card or a row. The comment box is in the panel that opens.
The link reached its comment limitβ
Cause: Each link takes at most 10 comments an hour and 50 a day, to protect the work item from spam.
Solution: Ask the viewer to try again later. If one audience comments a lot, give it its own link: see Give each audience its own link.
Jira refused the commentβ
Cause: The work item was deleted or moved, or the app can no longer read or write it.
Solution: Check that the work item still exists, then see Error: "This work item can't be shown" for how to give the app access.
Still not working?β
