Error: "This link isn't active"

Symptom​

A viewer opens a shared link and sees This link isn't active instead of the shared content.

Find the cause​

  1. Open the share window for the work item or board, or Apps > Share Public Link for a filter link.
    • If the link isn't in the list any more, go to the first cause below.
    • If the link is there, compare its URL with the one the viewer used. If they differ, go to the second cause below.
    • If they match, go to the third cause below.

Cause: Someone turned the link off in the share window or in My share links, or a Jira admin deleted it on the admin page. A link that was turned off never works again.

Solution:

  1. Create a new link with the settings the viewer needs. See Share a work item.
  2. Send the viewer the new link.

The URL was replaced​

Cause: Someone selected Replace URL... on the link. The link kept its settings, but the old URL stopped working.

Solution: Send the viewer the URL the link bar shows now, if they should still have access.

Cause: The URL ends in a long token. A URL cut off or wrapped in an email or chat no longer matches it.

Solution: Select Copy link in the share window and send the link again, for example as a link rather than as plain text.

Still not working?​

Contact support and include the work item key, board or filter name, and the time the viewer opened the link. Remove the token from any URL you send.
