Install, update and uninstall the app
Install Event Planner on your Confluence or Jira site, keep it up to date, and know what happens to calendars when you remove it.
Before you beginβ
- You need to be a site admin, or a Confluence admin or Jira admin for the product you install it on.
- The Confluence and Jira apps are separate Marketplace listings with separate licenses. Install each one you need:
Install the appβ
- In Confluence or Jira, select Apps > Explore more apps.
- Search for Event Planner, then select the Apportunity app for your product.
- Select Get app (or Try it free) and follow the prompts.
Result: The app works for everyone on the site straight away. In Confluence, people can insert the Event Planner macro and create space calendars. In Jira, they can add the Event Planner panel and gadget.
Update the appβ
Most updates reach your site automatically, with nothing to approve.
Some updates are major versions. They ask for new permissions, so Atlassian waits for an admin to approve them. Until then, the site keeps the previous version.
- Go to admin.atlassian.com and select your organization.
- Select Apps > Sites > your site > Connected apps.
- Find Event Planner for Confluence or Event Planner for Jira, and approve the update.
The Q4 2026 release is a major version for both apps. In Confluence it adds space calendars and the Embed space calendar macro. In Jira it lets people add colleagues to events. See What's new and Data security and privacy before you approve.
Uninstall the appβ
- In Connected apps, select View app details for the app.
- Select Uninstall and confirm.
What happens to your calendars:
- Confluence page calendars are files attached to their pages, so they stay with the pages. The macros show nothing until you install the app again, and then they show the calendars as before.
- Confluence space calendars are Confluence content in their spaces. They stay, and show again once you reinstall the app. The settings on the admin page go back to their defaults.
- Jira calendars on work items and dashboards are kept in Forge storage. Atlassian keeps them for 28 days after you uninstall, then deletes them.
Uninstalling the Jira app starts the 28-day countdown for every work item and dashboard calendar on the site. Export the calendars you want to keep first. See Export events.
