The Mermaid Diagrams panel isn't on a work item

Symptom​

A Jira work item has no Mermaid Diagrams panel, so you can't add or see diagrams there.

The panel hasn't been added​

Cause: Jira shows an app's panel on a work item only after someone adds it.

Solution:

  1. Under the work item's summary, select View app actions (the apps icon) > Mermaid Diagrams.
  2. To show the panel on every work item, open the panel's ••• menu and select Show for all work items.

Someone removed the panel​

Cause: Remove in the panel's ••• menu takes the panel off the work item. The diagrams aren't deleted.

Solution: Add the panel again from View app actions > Mermaid Diagrams. The diagrams come back.

The app isn't installed​

Cause: Mermaid Diagrams isn't listed under View app actions because only the Confluence app is installed, or neither is.

Solution: A Jira admin installs Mermaid Diagrams for Jira. See Install, update and uninstall the app.
