Why this app is not "Runs on Atlassian"

External Share & Public Links for Jira doesn't carry Atlassian's "Runs on Atlassian" badge, although it keeps all data inside Atlassian. This page explains why, and what you can do to keep sharing under control.

What "Runs on Atlassian" means

"Runs on Atlassian" is an Atlassian program for Forge apps. An app with the badge processes and stores data only on Atlassian's infrastructure, and meets a list of technical conditions Atlassian sets.

Where the app's data goes

The app is built entirely on Atlassian Forge. Its code runs in Forge, its data is kept in Forge hosted storage, and it sends no data to Apportunity or to any other company. See Data security and privacy.

Why it doesn't qualify

Shared pages need an address that people without a Jira account can open. The app serves them through a Forge web trigger: a public HTTPS address hosted on Atlassian's own infrastructure.

Atlassian's conditions for the badge exclude apps that expose a public endpoint, wherever it's hosted. So the app can't carry the badge, even though no data leaves Atlassian.

What we recommend

Sharing content outside your company is sensitive in itself. These settings keep it deliberate and traceable:

  • Restrict who can share to trusted groups, and allow only the spaces that are fine to share. See Sharing policy settings.
  • Set a default expiry and a maximum lifetime, so links stop working on their own.
  • Review links regularly on the admin page, and use the audit log to see who created, changed and turned off each link. See Review and turn off links across the site.
