Update to the paid version

If your site still runs the free version of the app, update it to the current paid version to get new features, fixes and support. Your links and settings stay as they are.

Before you begin

  • You need to be an organization admin, or a site admin who can manage apps and billing.
  • Atlassian treats a move from free to paid as a major update, so an admin must approve it. It doesn't happen automatically.
  • Atlassian Marketplace may offer a free trial before billing starts. Atlassian manages trials and billing, not us.

Update the app

  1. Go to admin.atlassian.com and select your organization.
  2. Select Apps > Manage your apps. The list of installed apps opens.
  3. Find External Share & Public Links for Jira. When an update is available, the list offers it, together with a trial or license option. The exact wording depends on your billing setup.
  4. Open the app's details and approve the update.
  5. Start the trial, or confirm the billing, if Atlassian asks you to.

Result: Atlassian installs the latest version on your site, usually within a few minutes. Existing links keep their URLs, and the sharing policy keeps its settings.

FAQ

No. The update changes the installed version, not its data. If an update ever needs extra steps, its entry in What's new says so.

Do we need to reinstall the app?

No. The existing installation is updated in place.

Who bills us?

Atlassian. Marketplace apps are billed with your Atlassian Cloud subscription.
