Workflow Extensions

Compatibility

This module is available in Script Master for Jira only.

Companion App required

Scripted post-functions run on the Forge back end and are executed through Protected Execution by an external Companion App. Until an application administrator configures the Companion App, backend script execution is disabled - the module shows an "Action Required" banner and the scripts do not run. See Secured Scripts Execution for the setup guide.

Overview

Enhance your Jira workflows using scripted extensions like Scripted Post-Functions, Scripted Validators, and Scripted Conditions. These powerful tools allow you to automate transitions, enforce validation rules, and control transition availability based on custom criteria, making your workflows more dynamic and tailored to your needs.

Post-functions

Script Master allows you to customize Jira workflows with scripted post-functions, which are executed during work item transitions. These scripts can perform tasks like updating work items, sending requests, or modifying data.

Validators

Workflow validators ensure that a transition meets certain conditions before proceeding. Custom scripted validators can enforce rules based on work item data or user actions. A validator can return a string instead of true or false, and Jira shows that string to the user as the error message.

Conditions

Scripted Workflow conditions prevent transitions from being available unless certain criteria are met, such as work item status or user permissions. A condition must return a boolean; it hides the transition rather than showing a message.
