Admin Settings

This page explains how Jira administrators configure Support Agent β€” setting up the allowed users list and controlling which projects display the panel.

Accessing the Admin Settings Page

  1. Log in to Jira as an administrator.
  2. Open the Jira admin menu (gear icon in the top navigation).
  3. Go to Apps β†’ Support Agent.

The Support Agent admin settings page opens with two sections: Allowed Users and Project Visibility.

Allowed Users

The allowed users list controls which team members support agents can select when posting a comment "as an allowed user". Only users on this list appear as options in the agent panel.

Adding a User

  1. In the Allowed Users section, click Add user.
  2. Search for the team member by name or email address.
  3. Select the user from the search results.
  4. Click Save.

The user now appears as an option in the Support Agent panel for all agents.

Removing a User

  1. Locate the user in the Allowed Users list.
  2. Click the Remove (trash icon) next to their name.
  3. Confirm the removal.

Removed users immediately disappear from the agent panel dropdown. Any comments already posted under their name remain unchanged.

Notes on Allowed Users

  • Users do not need to be notified or take any action β€” impersonation is controlled entirely by the admin.
  • There is no limit on the number of allowed users.
  • The list applies globally across all projects where the panel is visible.

Project Visibility

This section controls which Jira projects display the Support Agent issue panel.

Show Panel on All Projects

Toggle Enable for all projects to On. The panel becomes visible on every Jira project in the instance immediately.

Restrict to Specific Projects

  1. Toggle Enable for all projects to Off.
  2. Click Add project.
  3. Search for and select the projects where the panel should appear.
  4. Click Save.

Only the listed projects will show the Support Agent panel. Agents working on issues in other projects will not see the panel at all.

Removing a Project

Click Remove next to the project name. The panel stops appearing on that project's issues immediately. No data is deleted.

Permissions

Support Agent admin settings are accessible only to users with Jira Administrator permission. Regular users and agents cannot modify these settings.
