Atlassian Marketplace handles app upgrades automatically, and your existing app configuration and data remain connected to the same installation in most cases.
This guide explains how Jira administrators can upgrade to the latest paid version and start using the newest features.
What Changes When Upgrading?β
When an Atlassian Marketplace app changes from Free to Paid via Atlassian, Atlassian treats this as a major app update that requires administrator approval.
After upgrading, you will get:
- Access to the latest app features and improvements
- Ongoing support and maintenance
- Access to future releases
- Atlassian-managed billing and licensing
- Optional trial period provided by Atlassian Marketplace
Important Information Before Updatingβ
Before you start, please review the following:
Your Existing Data Stays Intactβ
The app upgrade updates the Marketplace version of the app. Your existing configuration and stored data remain associated with the installed app unless explicitly documented otherwise.

How to Update to the Paid Version
Step 1 β Open Atlassian Administrationβ
Open:
admin.atlassian.com
Log in with your administrator account.
Step 2 β Open Connected Appsβ
In Atlassian Administration:

- Select Manage your apps
This opens the Connected apps screen where installed Marketplace apps are managed.

Open the app details and approve the available update.

- the app remains connected to your Jira site
- existing app configuration continues to work
